Antioxidants. They’re the weapons your skin needs to defend against pollution, stress β€” and aging! If you live in a city like I do, your skin needs all the reinforcements you can give it to prevent damage from (wait for it)...free radicals. Free radicals are molecules that invade your cells and wreak all kinds of havoc, causing damage that weakens your skin barrier and accelerates skin aging (you know the familiar signs: lines, wrinkles, sagging, dullness, rough skin texture and DEHYDRATION!). Antioxidants counteract the impact free radicals have by restoring molecular balance in your cells. I think the best way to describe the effect free radicals have is that they short circuit skin cells. Antioxidants restore your cells' circuitry so that they can function as they need to in order to protect you.

The short end of it: antioxidants prevent skin damage and skin aging! Yes, they’re crazy good for your skin. But they’re also really easy to add to your existing skincare regimen and even easier to identify. Many vitamins we've been familiar with since we started popping Flintstone's Chewables are the most potent forms of antioxidants, including: Vitamin C (ascorbyl glucoside), Vitamin B3 (niacinamide) + Vitamin E (tocopherol acetate).

It doesn’t stop at vitamins though. Potent antioxidants like Resveratrol and Ferulic Acid will go a long way to restoring and maintaining healthy skin!

So, now what do you do?

You incorporate antioxidants into your skincare regimen! I love the range of powerful antioxidant serums from DECIEM and Paula's Choice. They’re well formulated, affordable, and easy to layer into any regimen β€” day or night. In the right order, preferably. That is, as with all skincare treatments, lightest to heaviest, and water-based serums before oil-based serums. The Paula's Choice RESIST 10% Niacinamide Booster and RESIST C15 Super Booster are literally mandatory for my skincare regimen and overall skin health. But that's just the start. The more I realized how important and beneficial antioxidants are to skin health, the more I wanted to step up my game. And that's how I stumbled on the more advanced antioxidant molecules that DECIEM offers. The Ordinary's Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% and EUK 134 0.1% have had a significant impact on my skin health. My complexion just f***in looks good!

And yours can too.
