This review was originally part of my blog article titled, Super Lightweight Summer Moisturizers Part II”. You can still catch the full piece here.

In part one of my summer moisturizer series last week, I recommended what I consider a conventional A-Beauty gel-cream. Ironically, it’s the Hyaluronic Marine Oil-Free Moisture Cushion from NY-based clinical skincare brand Dr. Dennis Gross. Since it’s completely devoid of oils, Moisture Cushion is focused predominately on hydration — both delivering hydration to the skin and preventing water loss through a mix of effective humectants. Clinique’s Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator is a similar formula with the equivalent benefits.

The Moisture Surge 72-Hour Hydrator is, like most of Clinique’s skincare, very well-formulated. It’s loaded with hydration-binding humectants, including Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water and Sodium Hyaluronate — the salt form of Hyaluronic Acid that’s more skin compatible.

There are several soothing, antioxidant extracts, too, including Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Lady's Thistle Extract and Birch Bark Extract.

The texture is wonderful. Its got this interesting watery, yet fluffy feel that melts right in and leaves skin feeling comfortably moisturized and deeply hydrated without any film or lingering effect. It’s just super refreshing.

And now to answer the question I know you’re dying to ask: Did it keep your skin hydrated for 72 hours? Who knows. I would never wait three days before replenishing my skin with hydration and moisture. Unless I were being held hostage.
