BIOSSANCE | SQUALANE + ZINC SHEER MINERAL SUNSCREEN SPF 30

Hey it’s summer and I’m all about finding the right sunscreens that are effective, good for skin health and comfortable to wear.

Earlier in the week, I reviewed the new Clinique Superdefense City Block SPF 50. It’s a good tinted formula that leaves skin with a touch of a glow.

It’s not a straight up mineral sunscreen, though, like my all-time fave — the Solara Suncare Time Traveler. If I were destined to be stranded on a desert island, that’s the one I’d want with me, hands down!

I picked up the Biossance Squalane + Zinc Sheer Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 a few weeks ago and only just now started getting into it. I was juggling so much and hadn’t gotten around to it. But it was certainly worth the wait!

It’s got a really unique milky, oily texture that’s likely the results of the high level of moisturizing squalane oil — at ingredient no. 4. I know what you’re thinking. Isn’t it heavy and oily on the skin? No, not at all. And it goes on super sheer with zero white cast; surprising to me considering it’s formulated with 100% non-nano zinc for SPF 30 protection.

It’s also got refreshing Nymphaea Alba Flower Extract, or water lily, that Biossance claims to cool down the skin. I don’t know about that. Hot is hot, and it’s been hot AF here in NYC the last few days. But this was the perfect time to break this one out and put it to the test, right?!

I can report things are all good! It glides on, absorbs instantly and doesn’t feel like anything on my face — even with temps in the low 90s.

Biossance really got it right with the Squalane + Zinc Sheer Mineral Sunscreen. Plus, it’s a clean formula, free of toxins. It’s vegan, cruelty-free, reef-safe and gluten-free, too!
