The Clinique Superdefense City Block Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Daily Energy + Face Protector is a solid enough formula that combines mineral and chemical sun filters Titanium Dioxide, Zinc and Octinoxate for potent SOF 50+ defense.
Clinique says it contains “Stop Signs™ Technology that visibly diminishes visible signs of aging by combating a full spectrum of modern environmental aggressors including UVA/UVB and other skin irritants.” I gotta say that cracked me up. I love brand marketing. All that to say that Superdefense City Block has a high level of UV protection?
I find it odd that if it’s going to address the aforementioned “modern environmental aggressors,” it doesn’t contain a single antioxidant — unless my eye sight is going. (That Lasik was $1,500 per eye!) Clinique is weird like that. How much do a few antioxidants in a formula cost — fifty cents?! Oh wait, there’s a tiny amount of antioxidant Vitamin E. Still, Clinique, come on!
No matter, what’s most important about sunscreen is defending skin against sun damage — and that the formula is a pleasure to use. I actually like this stuff.
Superdefense City Block has a slight hint of color to it that gives complexion a healthier appearance — and it blends right in. Is it my favorite sunscreen? No, not by a long shot. Be sure to catch my new faves here.
But, hey — it’s affordable and a perfectly fine sunscreen that’s even fun to apply.
