Renowned for its ability to soothe and heal skin that's been exposed to tropical elements like wind, salt water, and of course, the sun, kukui nut oil is an effective natural moisturizer extracted from the kukui nut tree (aka candlenut) and rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants that help protect, soothe, and heal irritated skin.
But what about the products?
Eavara’s Pure Paradise Eye Serum Cream is heaven.
Well, I'm infatuated with one Eavara product in particular. It's the Pure Paradise Anti-Aging Eye Serum. Rich in organic non-fragrant plant oils, it’s super lightweight and silky — and (thank you Tom and Samara!) is contained in an airless pump as all serious anti-aging products should be. The last thing you’d want in a jar is an eye cream! The second you open the lid, the potent antioxidants and most efficacious anti-aging ingredients begin to degrade until the formula is nothing more than a basic moisturizer. Get into the habit, as I have, of eschewing eye creams in jars and pots. Beyond the miraculous packaging, the Eavara eye serum is a near perfect formula, with aloe, jojoba oil, shea butter, vitamin E and calendula all right at the top of the ingredient list. There is no more delicate skin than the skin around your eyes and there are so many gently soothing, nourishing, skin-replenishing non-fragrant plant oils in the formula that I can’t name them all. Just know I’m in love with this eye serum. I know because I look forward to patting it on every night.

You probably know I'm the mask king! I couldn't wait to get Eavara's Volcanic Mineral Mud Mask on my face. And I certainly didn't need any arm twisting to stop what I was doing and grab my fave masking brush from The Body Shop! I'm not gonna lie, they got me at volcano. But Eavara didn't stop at the volcano's edge!

Like all of Eavara's formulas, the Volcanic Mineral Mud Mask is packed with indigenous organic and natural ingredients from the islands. But about that volcanic ash. I was expecting this to smell burnt — or at the least earthy. It doesn't. Not even close. I obsessed over the smell until I finally made peace with the idea that it smells like Jolly Ranchers! Which makes no sense at all since it's key actives are green clay and bentonite clay "made from the healing ashes of volcanoes"!

Volcanic Mineral Mud Mask is one of the lightest and creamiest mud masks I've tried. But unlike most mask treatments of the mud variety, it's not filled with drying, damaging denatured alcohol. For some reason, clay masks are always formulated with alcohol. It must be in the Clay Mask 101 formulation manual. In addition to the bentonite and green clays in this formula, it also contains kaolin — a very common clay in mud masks (also in the manual). But that's where the similarities end and where Eavara went rogue. Eavara's Volcanic Mineral Mud Mask is loaded with nourishing oils and skin replenishers like shea butter, sunflower seed oil and algae extract. I would have been content enough with that mix. But perhaps most interesting of all are the number of natural exfoliating AHAs it contains — among them glycolic acid, lactic acid, citric acid, mandolic acid and malic acid. Come on, for an all-natural formula, this is a really effective, well made treatment!
