PRODUCTS I π€ AND BELIEVE IN : Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Re.Pair Serum π―
We all get flare-ups! π₯ Seriously right outta the blue my skin can suddenly become reactive in patches, especially on the right side of my forehead! I'll get a patch of small red, itchy bumps β clearly a reaction (or over-reaction) to over-doing it. Thatβs when I go into emergency skincare hibernation mode. My entire skincare routine comes to a halt. No acids, no potent resurfacing, retexturizing, restoring, revitalizing, anti-aging anything. Beyond cleansing and toning with strictly gentle products, I turn to my tried-and-true skin soothers for comfort.
All the formulas in the Cicapair Tiger Grass range from my friends at Dr.Jart contain centella asiatica (βcicaβ for short) β an herb used in traditional medicine to treat irritation, redness and sensitivity. Cica is commonly known as "tiger grass" because tigers in the wild seek it out when wounded. They actually roll in the herb to help heal their wounds! If you can't trust a tiger, who can you trust?! The truth is, it actually does work. I haven't tried it on any open wounds, but I can testify to its healing properties on irritated skin. The first time I came across this amazing sensitivity soother was in my work at Kiehl's. We formulated two incredibly gentle post-procedure treatments called Centella Recovery Skin Salve and Centella Skin-Calming Facial Cleanser as a part of the Kiehl's Dermatologist Solutions range we were developing at the time. Damn, that cleanser was so good, but has since been discontinued in the US. I think it was just too niche. When I left Kiehl's, I took 6 bottles with me. Alas, ten years later, they've all been used up. #sadface ππΌββοΈ Looks like you can still get it on the Kiehl's Australia site though! As if everything Down Under didn't already seem out of reach and a world away.
So when my skin is inflamed, my go-to "medical" solution is the Cicapair Tiger Grass Re.Pair Serum. Literally overnight, any irritation is significantly dialed down and Iβm almost always good to go in the morning. Just a few drops of this silky green serum clears the redness, bumps, itchiness and, most importantly, returns my skin to normal mode. For my moisturizer on nights when I'm in skincare hibernation mode, I use Dr.Jart's Cicapairβ’ Tiger Grass Cream. Its the right balance of healing treatment and comfort cream.
Give it up for the tigers! They really are the gentle beasts of the jungle.
